Mobile Ballistic Shields vs Personal Ballistic Shields

Ballistic Shields vary in size, weight, protective designs, and optimized features. These differences in design determine the appropriate use case for the ballistic shield. Ballistic Shields asides the mentioned differences are also demarcated along the line of Personal ballistic shields and Mobile ballistic shields. Before highlighting areas of differences, these two ballistic shield designs should be considered.

Personal Ballistic Shields are lightweight shields designed to protect bearers mainly military or special team personnel. Personal shields have a lightweight design as they are made for individual use of force members. They also have solid ergonomic handle system for the bearer to make use of. Other features of personal ballistic shields include a flat side wing design, a durable surface based on level of NIJ specifications, a view port (subject to manufacturer specifications and custom-made specifications), a ballistic shield light system to enable multipurpose use in the dark.

Mobile Ballistic Shields on the other hand are robust, stable, deployable, and manoeuvrable. They provide head to toe protection for members of a tactical team from ballistic attacks. These types of Shields also provide a rolling wheel to enable members of special response team advance promptly with full head-to-head protection.

Personal Ballistic Shields and Mobile ballistic Shields have similarities like protection from ballistic attacks. They are both designed to protect against level IIIA resistant attacks and stronger levels like IV. Also, both types of shields are effective without any detriment to their bearers.

Regardless, there are notable areas of differences. Mobile ballistic shields have a robust rolling wheel made of run flat tires which keep them running on rugged grounds and when they are hit. Personal ballistic Shields on the other hand have no wheels but an ergonomic handle for the bearer. Also, mobile ballistic Shields can be used collectively by two or more members of a team while personal ballistic Shields (as the name implies) can only be used by an individual.
