Is Paintball Hurtful to the Body?

I still do not understand how being shot at by the enemy while trying to negotiate a variety of obstacles and terrain sounds fun to me. I find it more like something you would do with your friends at the weekend than it is like something from an army training manual. Every year, however, hundreds of thousands of people head to paintballing arenas across the country to do just that. As a result, the question arises, “Does paintball hurt?”

Are paintballs really painful?

Firstly, it is important to recognize that we all experience pain differently and react differently to it. The slightest pinprick to the finger of some can make them flinch; yet others can seemingly take on a heavyweight boxer. It is almost impossible to describe how much it hurts when you get hit by a paintball. Unfortunately, there is no paintball pain scale. If you get hit by a paintball located at around 200mph, it will hurt even if you have a high pain tolerance level.

Aside from where you were hit, another factor to consider is what part of your body was injured. There is little muscle or fat to protect the spine when you are hit in the back, for example. You will always feel more pain if you get hit on unprotected skin. However, the pain might not be as bad as it seems. If you stick to the rules, it’s less painful than getting snapped by an elastic band or stung by a bee; you’ll only get a tiny bruise or welt, nothing too serious. It’s essentially impossible to play paintball for a while and not get hit, unless perhaps you have Special Ops training. To ensure their safety, players are often provided with some tactical gear. Wearing tactical gear such as face mask and thick clothes can lessen the impact of the hit.
